In regards to Ed de Chazal's question about first test flights and getting
checked out I have just started this process two weeks ago.

I just started test flying my 360 (N1222K) 2 weeks ago.  I am also insured
with Avemco.  Avemco required that I have 2 hours of instruction and added
the test pilot to the policy.

I had Doug Weeldryer come down to test fly the plane.  He is a certified EAA
flight advisor qualified by Avemco.  The plan was for him to test fly the
plane then check me out and a CFII friend of mine with high time in many
different airplanes including tail wheel, experimentals and twins.  The plan
did not work out as well as I hoped because of weather but I would not have
done it any other way.

Doug tested the plane and flew some with me and the CFII enough so that the
CFII is comfortable.  The CFII and I are now testing the plane and I am
learning landings which are the toughest to adjust to but I am getting
better.

I recommend this approach highly and with good weather and no major problems
with your plane you should be able to get some good check out time.  Doug is
a great guy and he was a big help pointing out a few improvements which I was
not aware of.
Regards,
Randy  Kruger
