Colyn,
I have talked to Richard but do not know if he has a IVP setup in a sim. I
know he has the Chelton's. Training in a single (Bonanza/ 210/ Malibu) at
FlightSafety or Simcom in a similar airframe is very good because it is heavy on
EP's, instrument procedures and decision making. Training in your aircraft is
good also but there are some things you cannot do safely in the real airplane.
The bottom line is we all should be getting recurrent training at least every
six months. This should cover the following.
Normal Procedures
Emergency Procedures
Aircraft Systems
Instrument Procedures
Approaches, holds, missed approaches etc
Takeoff and Landings and rejected takeoffs and landings
Stall
recognition and recovery
TOLD calculations
Mountain flying
Weather flying
When the engine stops turning at FL230 is not the time to get acquainted
with the red checklist.
