I know he has the Chelton's. Training in a single (Bonanza/ 210/ Malibu) at FlightSafety or Simcom in a similar airframe is very good because it is heavy on EP's, instrument procedures and decision making. Training in your aircraft is good also but there are some things you cannot do safely in the real airplane. The bottom line is we all should be getting recurrent training at least every six months. This should cover the following. Normal Procedures Emergency Procedures Aircraft Systems Instrument Procedures Approaches, holds, missed approaches etc Takeoff and Landings and rejected takeoffs and landings Stall recognition and recovery TOLD calculations Mountain flying Weather flying When the engine stops turning at FL230 is not the time to get acquainted with the red checklist.
