Greydude,
Hmmmmmmm......... What percentage of recurrently trained pilots
with outstanding panel equipment and safety devices (O2, parachutes, etc.)
think their risk is reduced and recovery is possible from anything and so
enter more dangerous situations than those of us less confident and willing to
interrupt trip-finish-itus for some remote Holiday Inn Express and
the lobby bar?
Most pilots that spend a lot on equipment spend very little on skill
(training). One of those inverse relationships.
Or, is the crash rate higher for those cheap confident SOBs than the
smaller population of well trained private pilots?
Good question -- I will study that.....but first I will have to devise a
questionare and then study the mortality statistics over time....
Why won't my insurance company reduce my rate for my bi-annual
ritual at High Performance Training (Sebring is nice in January)? Do
they think my gobs of time-in-type overcome the deficiencies of advanced age
(weight too high, can't see, can't hear, reflexes gone to hell, can't breath
so well anymore, gave up challenging Mutha Nature, etc)? Huh?
Huh?
Who is your underwriter? I got nearly a 50% reduction in rates with the
Lancair plan.
I still like the virtual "Duh" training here on the LML. It keeps
my mind away from the Devil's work better than Sudoku
puzzles.
Yeah... I like those moments, too. Come to St. Louis and we can chat about
this over a brew....
