I don't see how you can draw a parallel between a pilot with incredibly poor
judgement stunting over a residential area, nowhere near a traffic pattern,
and getting in way over his head, with executing a planned manuever to
landing.
I am sure if you had had a discussion with the deceased pilot just before that flight, he would have expressed the same sentiments -- how can you compare my well planned actions, taken for the good of the general public who will get a free and exciting airshow right in their homes, with the actions of those irresponsible pilots that have crashed doing stupid things.
And one more point: Since you make a point of it being nowhere near a traffic pattern, would the same stunts done in a traffic pattern meet your approval?
