I have had mine adel clamped to the engine mount and another time, clamped to lines ultimately tied to the engine (cylinder) with no problem resulting.  You are right about the output side.  I did have a problem with hi flow indications when the input side had a -4 flare to -6 pipe adapter (just a small hole thru the pipe side) and the output side had a -6 pipe to -4 pipe bushing (much larger hole) and a -4 flare fitting.  The problem went away when I reversed the fittings and eliminated the turbulence caused by the adapter.
