I don't understand the statement about the "oil flow is minimal".  Sure, the
oil pressure regulator attempts to hold a constant pressure and since the
viscosity is high the flow rate through the engine is somewhat reduced, but
it's certainly not "minimal".  Note that the biggest restriction in oil flow
is in the main and rod bearings and that oil heats up very rapidly, thus
allowing more oil to flow.  Also, since the engine is cold why is "cooling
oil" flow so important?
