Of course, an independent A/P, like the Tru-Trak, uses its own internal electronic gyros for stabilization.

Totally agree with you. The combining of an A/P with the EFIS and having only one AHRS system for the whole works does not seem to be a wise move. It is definitely cheaper, but having a separate reference system for the A/P is well worth considering.
