Just a comment for Ron Kraus regarding the pics of his LNC2 (in progress)
sent in LML diugest # 733.
Ron, it looks like your fuel fittings at the engine (connecting to the flex
fuel hose from the firewall) are standard aluminum AN fittings.
I had used the same type (from boost pump to engine driven pump) when I
first installed my engine. When I had my final inspection, the inspector
insisted that I change that fitting to the steel AN part.
In re-reading the appropriate literature (Tony Bingeles, plus some FAA
stuff) I found that this was more than just suggested, but should be
considered mandatory from a safety standpoint. Engine vibration, coupled to
that fairly heavy hose hanging out there, is quite likely to fracture the
aluminum fitting - definitely a Bad Thing in your fuel system.
Having read somewhere that an unfortunately high percentage of experimental
mishaps are fuel system related, I didn't argue and changed out my fitting.
(The boost pump output was already steel so I only had to change the input
fitting on the engine driven pump).
As I've said here before: "You pays your money and you takes your chances".
