I installed a stormscope in my IV-P and placed at the recommended area and did not have a skin map done. the accuracy of the system is pretty good when compared with the weather depicted on my weather anywhere map, usually most of the red stuff will light on my garmin 530 and I can compare with the compaq returns. I do get a false alarm at 7.00 o'clock that I can not get rid of. Last week going from DFW to Taos had to divert to Santa Fe so much activity was around until hail hit the windshield a bit. the stormscope was a great aid to get around strikes. I will not fly without it. planning to get it skin mapped soon.
