After I got my initial quote, I had 2 of the
other companies call me back and say that they could not quote due to the
fact that someone else had already quoted on the tail number.

That is the way the airplane insurance business works. Since most brokers go to
the the same companies, the companies don't want the extra work of supplying
multiple quotes for the same aircraft/coverage...
