If you have the same kind of memory that I have, you should do the rebuild
then pickle it till you are ready to install.

Thoughts? Is there a specific oil I should use? Or am I better to finish
the overhaul and store it as a complete block?

Boiled linseed oil. It reacts with oxygen. It does stink, though.
