Bruce did that to all of his rebuilds. How he connected the inner
and outer galleries I do not know. It was to make more room under the cowl,
rather than have the oil filter sticking up so high.
The outer gallery must be pressurized for the oil pressure relief
valve to work. Look for another set screw on the side where he connected the
inner and outer galleries. If this is correct, you can use the stock oil
pressure port. I like a block on top of the stock filter adaptor stand (removed
in your case) so I can measure oil temp going into the rear stationary gear.
(The inner gallery).
That also connects to the alignment dowels to supply oil to the
front stationary gear. The dowels are the upper oil supply gallery for the front
iron. The set screws are threaded plugs.
