Chris and I used a liquid gasket material. Worked fine on clean surfaces. No pickup problems

Hi All,
Well the last 21 months have been way too interesting. However, I'm back building again, and my machine shop is functional.
I most humbly apologize if I missed in communicating with anyone during that time. I will admit, I was very discouraged, and just didn't check my personal mail accounts for weeks (months?) at a time.
I am currently making a spacer for the oil pickup to compensate for the thickness of the bed mount. What I'd like to obtain from the wisdom of those who have gone before is whether it is worth machining into it step(s) for an O-ring. The current pickup seems to be using a gasket to seal it (I haven't tried scraping it off, yet. I know I don't need the o-ring to hold pressure the way they have to on the filter housing, but it can't leak the least bit of air either, right? Two gaskets is pretty simple, but then again, two o-ring recesses is just a few minutes with a 20mm mill cutter.
Your thoughts?
