Hi Scott;
I
bought a very nice set of fiberglass louvers from LanceAir. I told the parts
guy that they were going to be used on an RV, which seemed to please him. IIRC
they were only about $20 and the service was fast. They were so nice that I
made a mold of them before glassing them into my cowl, then I made another set
from that for the other side. The set I bought are ~5”x10”, but I think they
had a few size options. They look quite nice when properly glassed into the
cowl.

Oh;
Sorry, I already cut the cowl 9.4 x 10.5.
The coolers lay very close to the right cowl side. I don't think I have enough
room to elongate the exit surface like Ed did. After finding out that louvers
are only made to 5" each, I decided that I would mold a rear facing pair
of scoops in firberglass.
My first mold is C**P, but I have a new idea. I'll build a male plug that fits
directly to the cooler and out the side of the cowl.
I'll lay it up flat on a table with a flange, and attach it from the inside so
it won't show an edge buildup on the outside of the VANS cowl.
I would have used a James Rotary cowl, but they were not available when I
started, and the Fred Breese early RV-8 mount wouldn't let the turbo sit far
enough aft to fit in it anyway. "As you make yer choices, you limit yer
options".
