It shows the return line from the engine (or pump)
connecting back to the feed line just after the tank selector
valve.

I think most folks believe that using
the heated return fuel is a bad idea. Better to mix it with the cool fuel in the
tanks. The Diamond DA40 diesel uses a similar setup to Tracy's. But the
return fuel line routes through the right tank and them dumps in
the left. This provides extra cooling for the return fuel in the line.
Normal operation is to draw from the left tank only. You can switch to the
right in an emergency but the return fuel always dumps in the left.
