Joe,
  Noticed the rubber cap you have on heater outlet (in the car) on the side of the
engine.......I could not tell for sure but it looks like one that you get at the auto
parts store.......These are just rubber with no kind of reinforcement.......Not very
strong and deteriorate(sp) very fast........If this is one of these I would replace it
at the first opportunity........Certainly do not fly with one of these types of caps....

I’ve got an auto type coolant expansion/overflow tank. I put it right next to the oil dip stick so I can check water level when I check oil. And yes, I know that the coolant level in the overflow tank doesn’t guarantee there is a full radiator – but the alternative is removing the cowl every time I fly.
