Hi David,
No Renesis at this point, just relating to Tracy's
comments more about a tight new engine producing more power, more heat. My
engine is a 91 turbo block 13B. Yes, I think new rotors (with new apex
slots), new type apex seals and new rotor housings - plus setting up the side
seals to the minimum specs, new metal oil rings - I think just added up to a
much tighter engine than I had previously.
Flew this morning and could tell the difference in
power. Advance the throttle and a strong push is felt in the rear end
- much different. ROC seems to be up considerably as well. Will
release numbers after a couple more flights.
Recall I fly with a "Plugs Up" orientation, my
engine is rotated 90 deg so that the plugs are on top and exhaust/intake on the
bottom. For that reason I do not use a "bed" type mount - so no aluminum
plate between oil pan and block - just some gray silicon gasket
sealant.

again!
Ed, good morning.
I noticed your statement, "This is pretty much
what Tracy reported when first flying with the Renesis engine - tight engine,
more power, more heat. So it appears that this engine is much
tighter. I can now maintain level flight burning 4 gph when it used to
take 5.5 gph. Can't wait until its broken in a bit more to see what the
top end is. Overhaul kit from Real World Solutions and parts from Bruce
T appear to have come together in a tight nit engine."
Are you flying with an RX-8 Renesis engine
now? or just relating your experience with a tightly overhauled RX-7,
comparing to Tracy's RX-8?
And, I liked the picture of your engine mount
(photo you sent of the "engine hoist" at the "emergency landing" airport when
your apex seal peeled back). It doesn't look like you use the aluminum
plate between oil pan and housings. Have any details you could send
about your "attachment point adapters"?

Wife, drove me and my flight gear to aircraft
getting there around 1100. By time finished loading, reinstalling the
avionics - the @$#%^ transponder wouldn't slide all the way back in an engage
the pins it was 1130 and the wind was picking up. - I figured I'd
stay low enough and out of class B airspace anyway.
