Hi, Rusty....unfortunately I didn't get quite high enough on downwind to see across the bay.   
 
Hey, I was at 8500 ft, so you wouldn't need to be high to see me :-)  
 
Once established downwind, I turned off one of them. I like to use the left pump on odd days and the right pump on even days, just so they both get similar useage.   
 
These things run the life of your car, so there's no way we're going to wear them out.  I just don't understand why people insist on turning them off.  Now if your alternator fails, fine, turn one off to save juice.  Otherwise, leave them on, using big fuses of course :-)
