There's also a crank mounted alt. sold by one of the VW conversion houses. I posted a link to it several months ago; I'll try to find it again if anyone's interested.
Using a rotor stator setup. Bolt the rotor to the flexplate and mount the stator to the back of the PSRU. This would work. Be out of the way. And require minimal modification of any of the other systems. I'm liking this!!
