Hi, Bob....I have been thinking about possible solutions for the air intake as well. I purchased two nice pre-fabricated NACA ducts from Van's RV Aircraft. They are made to put in the sides of the fuselage of the RV aircraft for cockpit ventilation. They are nice units, with a male extension to which you attach your scat or sceet tubing to and run it to your eyeball vents. Totally prefabricated, just use the template provided to cut out the NACA shape and rivet or epoxy/glass them into place, attach your hose and you are finished. (Did both sides on a Saturday morning on my SQ2000). (They also cost less than 20 dollars if I remember correctly).
I was considering putting one or two of them on the bottom of my cowl extensions (essentially wing extensions so that the wing meets the cowling), and running the hose or hoses right up to the throttlebody. Since it is under the wing, and in high pressure, it would seem as though it should provide cold air to the throttle body, especially since the engine is capable of sucking in the air even if there is not a lot of ram effect?
I was wondering, however about rain....Seems there's not always a simple solution. If I just install two air horns, I will be ingesting the air that has gone through the radiator and oil cooler. Obviously I would get more power pulling in outside air compared to warmer cowling air....just don't know about the rain factor. Paul Conner

I still need to work out something for the intake. Since I'm in New
Mexico, I need to provide a filtered air source for those occasions when
there's more sand in the air than oxygen. We get some pretty heavy rain
showers also. I guess I see the main advantage of the ram air is
getting a little more speed at altitude.
