The first book for the RX-7 I bought was a Chilton book. Are we talking about the same one, #46800? I suppose that, on the general principle that it's impossible to have too much documentation, it's worth having, but its coverage of the rotary is meager. I found the Haynes manual to be much more focused and much more comprehensive. I think I mentioned before that this was the first time I'd found a Haynes manual to be the better choice.
By all means, get as much technical info as you can; get a Mitchell manual - if you can find one. Nobody does wiring diagrams better than Mitchell (except maybe the factory manual) and you'd be hard-pressed to find better tuning and troubleshooting procedures - at least that's been the case for a wide variety of other Make/models I've researched.
