Offer the customer $300 cash so he can have the spinner re-coated sometime in the future after additional hanger rash.

If you refinish the cone, do not sand off the aluminum as this will damage the substrate. The aluminum coating can be dissolved with a solution of Potassium Hydroxide (lye), which is available at Home Depot as ZEP Industrial Purple. Scuff the aluminum with some Scotchbrite and MC first to remove any clear coating. Try a small patch first. The reaction produces hydrogen so be sure it is well ventilated. Neutralize the spinner with a mild acid and lots of water.
