Ed -
Your back-up plan sounds exactly like mine. I intend to have a test pilot
(Mike DeHate) come and fly my plane. Then he will take me up for a
introduction, but since I haven't been flying much, I won't get much out of
that. So the plan is to have Mike take a local instructor up for a thorough
review. That way, when Mike leaves, I can continue to receive dual from the
local instructor until he and I feel that I am competent.
I am also insured with Avemco, and I haven't yet asked Mike if he is an EAA
flight advisor. Sure would be easier if he is - maybe he can respond to us
about that. Otherwise I guess he and I will participate in the EAA flight
advisor program. I certainly want to be insured those first 10 hours.
