Haven't heard it mentioned yet, but a "light aircraft" pilot can waive the 3
minute departure sequence for most large aircraft departing ahead of you,
but there is a mandatory wait for certain heavy jets.  Many of you may
recall the flurry of concern after several accidents and incidents occurring
in the  wake of 757's when that model was fairly new.  My recollection is
that this concern motivated a change in the rules tower controllers and
pilots live by for sequencing landings and takeoffs.
