Orin Riddell wrote that they now recommend operating well rich of
peak to get the engine lifetime a customer should be able to expect.
not to rehash the lean vs. rich of peak issue but just a few facts:
1) newer Continentals are *designed* to run lean of peak.
2) http://www.avweb.com/articles/gamijectors/ whole biz model is around
lean of peak operation.
3) I personally know a tsio-550 in a lc30 with 950+ hrs on it that has lived its whole
life at 30in 2500rpm 50 lean of peak. (18gal/hr) service kit on the mags at 500hrs.
welded turbo housing crack at 700hrs and new vac pump at 800hrs.
