Rob,

As you may know, I am a chemist.  In the early years of my trade, I used to make my own laboratory setups, and I frequently used Pyrex tubing--did a lot of cutting, fusing, bending, etc.

The use of 5/16 glass tubing in the cockpit to carry gasoline would not be safe.  Please abandon this idea.  Take it from one who knows.

I am not a believer in plastic tubing carrying gasoline either. In 1975, I was burned in an explosion.  To this day, I still shudder at the memory of surgeons debriding dead tissue from my body with scrub brushes.  It was an excruciating pain that extended for days after each procedure.  It was a pain that no human should endure.

Consider that your use of unsafe tubing in your airplane may bring such pain to those you love--don't do it.
