Dave,

This topic was addressed a few years ago.  I think it's unlikely that there is or ever will be a high quality simulator for a Lancair or any experimental/amateur built airplane.

A high quality simulator costs millions of dollars.  That can possibly make sense for production airplanes, but not for our Lancairs; A) there aren't enough of them, B) we'd be unwilling to pay the prices associated with simulator lease or training (figure $600 to $2,000 per hour), and 3) every plane is different so the simulator accuracy would be limited anyway.

There are no high-quality motion simulators for Bonanzas, Malibus, Mooneys, or until last year, even a Pilatus PC-12.  The $$$$'s are prohibitive.

Matt

Subject: [LML] Simulators for Lancair

Hello all,

I'm in search of a Lancair simulator for the 235/320/360 airframe.  I've decided I'd like to practice some stall maneuvers, and am not going to do it in the airplane.  Does anyone have any recommendations for a simulator that has been configured for Lancair body?  I realize the avionics will be off since we all have our own panel configurations, but avionics aside; we should all have similar airframes.  I found several plane files for Microsoft Flight Simulator, but I'm hoping to find something a little higher end, preferably a full motion simulator.

Thanx all,
Dave
