Lancair Flyers, With reference to the email below and my earlier post, Jeannie Schneider, the aircraft parking supervisor for the show plane line, will attempt to park all Lancairsthat seek to do so in the “old Lancair” parking area along the west side of the North/South runway/taxiway. For those of you not familiar, it’s to the west of taxiway P, just to the south of taxiway P1 on the airport diagram. Jeannie’s folks generally recognize Lancairs, but it might help to make an “extra” sign for your window indicating that you’re a Lancair. In any case, BE SURE YOU PRINT AND STUDY THE NOTAM for operating in and out of Oshkosh during AirVenture. This is a BIGGIE, and requires you to do some “unusual” things like having signs you can put in the window after landing to help the parking directors… One other thing. Please try to follow the parking directors’ visual instructors after landing. If you’re not going where you want, just go with the flow until you can clear the taxiways and shut down safely. That’s the time to get out and ask why you’re in the powered parachute parking area, NOT when you’re on an active taxiway with the engine running! Seriously, once you’re shut down, tell the parking assistants where you want to go. They will coordinate with Jeannie and others as required and allow you to taxi there if possible. Please understand that if there’s no room, there’s no room… It’s also possible to tie down where you stop, and move to the Lancair area after you’ve had a chance to survey the area and make a plan. (If you’ve not been to “Oshkosh” you’ll come to appreciate the need for “a plan” to do/see what’s there! Safe flying; and if you’re bringing a Lancair and have not so advised me, now would be a good time…we’re still trying to get an approximate count to Jeannie, and so far, I have about 20 names. My bet is that there will be at least twice that number of Lancairs coming? Bob For LOBO I hope it is great news Bob and I was glad to let you know. But we, the homebuilt parking crew on the North/Kit Plane area are going to be facing some new challenges this year and probably for years to come. There is a new "Chalet" being built, yes built, this meaning a possible permanent structure in the area where we park a fair amount of the homebuilts just before the commercial taxiway. Thus those aircraft will be pushed out to either our area or to the back. My hope is that the Lancairs will understand that when we are full, we are full, and they will probably be sent to the back area to park. As always we try to accommodate all of our homebuilts and hope they understand when we aren't able to accommodate all requests. Hey?... do you think I could look in on the Forum at all and if there are questions with parking I can help with that?.. if it is just for Lancair owners, I understand. See you in a few weeks, and safe traveling to Oshkosh!!!
