I have had a gear minder in my 320 for 10 years now, maybe more.It is a very complicated device but it does work quite well.It is a bit annoying when purposely at slow speeds (like at OSH). You hate to turn it off since that will surely be the time you need it most. It was extremely hard to install. I gave up on it a took it to the factory to have them do the final installation. I remember it took 2 full days and at one point Lance said "what the hell is going on here".The answer to the question, I think, is that it works off of air pressure thru the pitot tube. I know this because to do a gear test on the ground you have to bring the airspeed up to 100 with mouth pressure thru a plastic tube attached to  the pitot tube. I am under the impression that Lancair no longer sells or supports the item. Sincerely, Fred N9BF," don't fly like my brother."
