The
states all have inspectors that make sure airplanes keep at
airports
are registered correctly and have paid the appropriate
taxes.>>>
Worse than true!
I had parked my
plane in California for a week for engine work. The
next month
I got a bill from the Calif. taxation department for
personal
property tax. I suggested they shove it and they
suggested that they
would file a lien on the aircraft title until the
tax was paid. The
plane was seen at an airport when their
inspector was taking inventory
and was therefore subject to Calif.
taxation. Took weeks of calls and
letters and documents to
convince them I did not live and the aircraft
was not based in
California.
So yes they have inspectors but they are happy
to collect inappropriate
taxes as well. :-(
