Subject: [LML] Flap motor

After two days of skinned knuckles and scraped arms I have finally been able to remove the flap motor/micro switch assembly from that tiny little space between the seats of my 235.  The system had failed in flight.  The motor powered screw drive has a ring of tine ball bearings which follow the screw grooves and move the actuating arm which is attached to the flap assembly. My ball bearing ring failed.  I talked to Michelle at Lancair and they have the item (later models use the same system) but they are made in Sweden and cost a king's ransom.  I'm writing this on the outside (very outside) chance that someone might have one of these units gathering dust on a shelf.  If so, please send me a msg at pathabu@aol.com.   Pat Halloran
