I use one of those multiple format card readers on a USB port, the drivers that come with it, and Vista works fine. I suspect there's a reader/driver combo for Win7.

Subject: [LML] What USB SmartMedia Card
Reader/Writers do you guys use to update your Cheltons?
Having finally secured some old fashion 64mb SmartMedia Cards to update the navigation and obstacle databases in my two Cheltons, I discovered that the recommended SmartMedia card reader, the Olympus MAUSB-10 drivers are not compatible with modern/current operating systems. The drivers work for Windows 98/ME/2000/and XP but not Windows 7. There is also no support for the Mac OSX, in spite of what it says on the
Olympusamerica.com/support web site (I just got off the phone with their tech support).
I managed to actually update my systems by pulling out an old Dell laptop that I had been using for a paperweight in the garage. It was running Windows XP. On the third try, it finally downloaded the MAUSB-10 drivers and I was able to copy the nav and obs database updates and update my Cheltons.
So I'm OK, as long as my old Dell with XP doesn't blow up.
How do you guys update your SmartMedia cards using computers with modern / current operating systems???
Many thanks in advance for your assistance.
John
