I second John on this. Get some help/advice if this is your first time to
fiddle with the fuel setup...and I speak from having almost learned this the
hard way on my IV-P. I could not seem to get the boost regulator set
properly...either too low, or too high--MUCH too high on one trial run.
Finally I asked Charlie Kohler and he told me I had to tap on the controller
with a plastic mallet or screwdriver handle after adjusting it... to allow
it to re-seat. Who would have known...but it worked!

There are several possible bad outcomes to "trial and error" on this one!

Hi Jon -

Setting up the fuel system is not an uncomplicated task. You need the  right equipment (eg. two calibrated, damped gauges) and a lot of other  information. I would strongly recommend that you get an A&P who knows the  continental big bore engines and has a lot of experience with them. A  Bonanza shop would have one or more. Barring that, make sure you down load  the SID97-3E from the Continental website and study it carefully. I  believe we had a IV go in right after takeoff because of an overly rich  mixture.
