 Great post. Working for the airlines, we have to visually inspect the
 p-seals on a more recurrent basis than annually.  There might have been
 a slight chafe or beginning  tear from ingress/egress that was not
 caught on a typical preflight.  Brings back memories of the (late)Payne
 Stewart and the baggage strap missed on a rushed and late load.  My wife
 and I have had heated discussions on the possible cockpit environment on
 JFK jr's last flight (30 minutes prior to departure and 10 minutes prior
 to termination).
