Bill,
I have what I think is a good solution to this
problem which actually serves a dual purpose.
Since there is not a lot of room in the Legacy for
approach plates (or a tablet computer for plates), I attached a "RAM Mount" to
my Legacy Canopy (http://www.ram-mount.com/). The
particular one I chose has a square plate that can hold a tablet computer or a
clipboard for approach plates or checklists.
You can use it as a handle to lift/close the canopy
and it can hold your checklist or plates in flight. (You need to be
careful where you position it so it doesn't interfere with the
stick)
I attached it to the canopy along the
rim. I used flox to attach a piece of phenolic containing
mounting screws directly to the rim. The base of the Ram Mount screws on
to this.
If you just want it as a handle, you can skip the
square plate and just get the "ball portion" of the Ram Mount.
If you send me your email, I will send some
pictures.

Subject: [LML] Lifting the Legacy
Canopy
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to
install a handle or otherwise to facilitate the raising of the Legacy
canopy? It is very difficult to get it to come up the first inch or so
because there is no place to get a hold on it.
Pictures would be nice!
