I sometimes have to blink and give my head a shake when I see the numbers being quoted for painting and upholstery work in the sunny south. I opted to do my own paint after being quoted $2600. CD. I haven't finished it yet mind you<g> but one of these days. I've used the HVLP system on other projects and it is a lot easier to use, even the compressor/step down units, than conventional guns.
What a lot of people seem to do is get some help to prime and sand (mostly time and strong arms,not skill) then get a good painter to come in and do the final coats. $400-$600 (cash) is the going rate locally. Painting ain't brain surgery.
