I have heard much opinion and folklore about recommended leaning for the
TSIO550-E1B
so I have some data to present and request similar data from other LNC4
owners to see if these
numbers are typical for a engine with more than 50 hours. (This one has
65 hours TT)
Based on discussions with Orin at Lancair during my IV checkout and from
reading the book
EGT Systems from Light Plane maintenance the following guidelines were
established.
Maximum EGT/TIT: 1550F for any RPM/MAN setting.
Minimum RPM: 2500 with Manifold Press. > 30"
The following data was taken at 65% power with a Vision Micro Systems
engine monitoring system.
RPM: 2400
MAN: 28.5"
OAT: -8C
ALT: 17500ft
20.7 GPH (Rich of Peak) 15.3v GPH (Lean of Peak)

This date has been found to be very typical of the engine at this time
with the EGT/TIT limitations listed above. The EGT temperatures have
been found to be the limiting case and not the TIT. The maximum TIT is
typically the same or less than the maximum EGT on cylinder #2 at the
65% power setting. The minimum power setting normally used is 65%.
