If you're working on fiberglass you have a lot of choices.  Acetone evaporates too quickly, so you might try mineral spirits.  It will soften the adhesive and stay liquid long enough to wipe it clean.  Then follow up with acetone after the mineral spirits.  I've found that Ronsonol lighter fluid is great on the windows.
