Would you give your teenage son or daughter the keys to the car and say “Go teach yourself how to drive”. Would you give them a 357 Magnum and a box of ammunition and say “ Go out in the backyard and teach yourself how to shoot”. Most teenagers are self taught in three areas, sex, drugs and alcohol.
If the FAA really wanted to improve general aviation
safety, scud running and low passes would be included in the student pilot curriculum. Naturally they would have a politically correct designation such as, “Single Pilot Low Altitude Training”, (SPLAT).
