Bill,
You should consider doing what several of the Legacy RG builders have done;
put them behind the seats. That's where mine is, along with the hydraulic
pump. It's fairly easy to make access panels in the seat backs and build a
bulkhead behind the batteries to keep them isolated from the baggage
compartment. I know of one flying Legacy with dual batteries and the
hydraulic pump behind the seats, an IO-550 with a 3-bladed prop and dual
alternators. The weight and balance came out very nice.

I have a Legacy FG. Where are you guys mounting your batteries? I am
planning a 14V, two battery, one alternator system with fuel injection.
It
seems like a lot of weight in the back, and crowded behind the firewall??
