That's where mine is, along with the hydraulic pump. It's fairly easy to make access panels in the seat backs and build a bulkhead behind the batteries to keep them isolated from the baggage compartment. I know of one flying Legacy with dual batteries and the hydraulic pump behind the seats, an IO-550 with a 3-bladed prop and dual alternators. The weight and balance came out very nice.
