You are correct about total time. There are many high time pilots who have
had accidents in these things as well as many low time
pilots. Unfortunately a lot of logbooks got "lost" between the accident and
NTSB and the reports only reflect the rating not the hours BUT the stats show a
very strong correlation to time in type. Less than 300 hours in make and model
seems to be a break point in the accident stats.
