**50° lean of peak is the standard and benchmark.
 More than 50 is fine if it will run smooth.  But never less.**

That's true for the TC'd airplanes as you are talking about at the high powers we run them, but in the NA airplanes, closer to peak at the lower power settings is perfectly OK.
