I used the 10 vane Aero-Classics on my O 360 A1A and it has more than
enough capacity. It is mounted on the firewall with a 3.5"(from
memory?)scat tube supply off the rear baffle plate into a large plenum. In
winter I block off 90% of the air to keep the oil dry. It was purchased
through Aircraft Spruce.
The cooler has a row of holes at each end between the end plate and the
cooling fin material, allowing a substantial amount of air to pass through
at high speed, making little contact with hot metal. The holes were filled
with a low density high temp flexible hole filling material.
Thin clear silicone RTV with lacquer thinner to the consistency of 20W
oil, thicken with micro, load into a large syringe, fill holes on both
sides. do not try to fill the holes through the full thickness of the
cooler, as it will migrate into the cooling fins.

Does anyone have experience with the Aero-Classics oil cooler from
Pacific Oil Coolers?
