 A layer of fabric over the micro wouldn't hurt.  It may be a belt and
suspenders thing because it would probably be fine but the micro can be a bit
brittle.  Sounds like a good idea. You can also use Kevlar pulp or milled
glass or milled carbon fiber for reinforment intead of balloons where greater
strength is needed.  The problem with Kevlar is it's very hard to sand but it
is tough.
