Lorn, one of the reasons was that timing started before we all got up to
full speed as we passed the tower on take-off, plus, could be that climb on
the leg to Sun River, which just happened to be the longest leg and into the
wind (such as it was). And also, didn't you have all your gear and the lady
friend aboard as well (memory's gone, should remember her name, but
nowadays, without a name tag, I'd probably forget mine)? Though she's
certainly not very heavy, every pound the wing is carrying will slow you
down a wee bit.

My 235 powered lawn dart only made a little over 160 kts and I almost always
cruise at 165+.

Anyway, a win is a win!
