I have more time flying formation than any of you fellows. That's what I am
trying to tell you that it can be risky for low time pilots like you people.
You have to know your fellow pilots. Please take it easy and don't rush into
 formation flying. thanks larry

Larry,

I completely understand your concern.  That's what clinics are all about, mitigating the risk by providing a structured/proven program.  FAST has proven incredibly successful (zero airshow accidents by FAST formations at airshows...knock on wood!) in large part because it has been developed using a military foundation - where many lessons have been written in the blood of our finest.

There really are two choices.

1)  Sit idly by why people with the desire to fly formation take things into their own hands and go out and do it on their own with no training, OR

2)  Provide a *standardized* program to teach them in a safe and monitored environment with proper oversight and clear objectives.

To just sit on the sideline and say "don't do it" accomplishes nothing...other than allow those who do it to say "I told you so" when something goes wrong.

I'm not suggesting, Larry, that is what you are doing.  I'm sure if the opportunity presented itself you would be happy to share your vast experience and set of finely tuned hands to help others safely enjoy a more demanding form of flying.  After all, you were once at the other end of the spectrum relying on guys with your current experience to help them along.  :)

Cheers,

Barry
