Hello all,

Well after two weeks of fussing around I have the problem
diagnosed and the solution is in hand if not exactly pretty.

Lycoming has a service instruction #1462 that has effectively
signaled out the front bearing as the problem,  The procedure
is very simple, take your differential pressure gauges, hook
them to the oil input port to the prop, pump in 40 lbs. of
air pressure, read back at least 8 lbs.  In my case the read
back is a big 0.  This means that all the oil is being pumped
directly into the crankcase by the governor. I discovered the problem the day before scheduled first
flight. I would suggest that anyone with a project perform
this test while your engine is still off the plane.  The only
solution is to split the case and either plug the journal
hole that is open or use a different bearing, you don't know which until the case is split.

Kudos for my engine supplier AirTech of Orlando FL.
He owed up to the mistake right away no hemming or hawing and is covering the complete situation under the
warranty even though I brought my engine 10 years ago.

The only good part is now I am really going to put the long engine mount on before first flight, so I did
the right thing buying that mount from you Marv.  I was going to  wait for engine overhaul time.

After 10 years still not flying :-<
