Could anyone else who has had the Mt hub modification and new seals installed please comment on how the seals are working?
Yes, Mike I have a MTV-14 four blade on my L4P. I have 300 hrs TT and had the prop overhauled with new type seals and a new type grease installed at about the 170 hr time frame. Mine was new at the end of 2002 and the factory said it had the old seals and grease. They covered the prop costs under warrantee but I paid the R and R plus shipping. The first seals would streak grease up the back of the blades to the end of the rubber cap and around the front of the blade after about 5 hrs of flight time. The New seals still leak but it takes about 8 or 9 hrs of flight to streak grease up to the end of the rubber on the back of the blade only. After that amount of time, which I did on the way back from OSH a few weeks ago, the grease is also on the front of the cowl and some spots are on the windshield. This rate of leakage has gone on since it was reworked. The factory guys say that we have to start worrying when no more grease comes out, which will be a dry situation. I have had no instructions on how to put grease back in? MT has been fair and open about this but I still don't like it.

So far, DJ says he is having no problems with 25 to 30 hours on his overhaul (MTV-14). However, I received an off-list email from a 235 owner with an electric Mt that was modified with the new seals last year, and he says that his prop still throws grease.
